De-pacified

So, it's been over a week now. It's been quite a week. The first few days were definitely rough. He would cry for about half an hour each day before finally falling asleep. Then he would wake up about 30 minutes later and cry again for 15 minutes before sleeping for an hour or more.

Then it got better. It would only take 10 minutes before he would be asleep. He'd sleep for 45-60 minutes before waking for another 10 minute cry & again sleep for an hour or more.

Then it got really bad. He woke up at about 3:30 Saturday night and cried for over half an hour. Brad gave him medicine to help his cold and we hoped it would make him fall asleep. No such luck. He cried for another half hour before I went and got him. He played in our bed for an hour before I finally put him back in his bed and retreated to our back room for some uninterrupted sleep. Did you count that? Two hours on a Saturday night. Luckily we don't have church until 11:00, because after him being awake for 2 hours in the middle of the night, none of us woke up until 9:00 am!

Now, while it's not perfect, we're getting there. I can at least talk to him about going to bed without the water-works coming on. He actually sleeps better at night, I think, than he did with the pacifier (since he's now able to get himself back to sleep). In fact, he'll even lay in his bed and talk, like he used to, without the pacifier anywhere around.

The next thing to tackle...potty training. Haha! Kidding, maybe in a few more months when he's ready. But for now, we just practice sitting on the toilet and trying to get our pants on and off correctly. Joys of motherhood!
