What's Up

Some of you may remember a previous post about Jacob's religious awareness. He was in the mood for temples again, so I obliged. This time, we went all out with 3 temples:The next day, we cut his hair!

Levi has been working on his spitting skills, as Brad has found out. Brad about freaked out when it happened...yeah, you can tell he doesn't stay home with Levi every day!
Also, this would be why I always smell like old, sour milk. This too shall pass though, right?

Recently, Levi has been learning to smile. Here's one of his first:
Here's one a few days later that's a much bigger smile. Isn't he cute?!
And here's just one of my boys hanging out:

3 Chickens and a Sleeper

We got to have Ashton and Abby come over last week to play. Jacob had such a fun time. The three of them, though, are little chickens. I took them outside to play on the swing set, but all three of them begged me to come back inside. Why? you may ask, since it was an absolutely gorgeous day out. Well, there were two reasons. Ashton and Abby were scared of the little yippy dog who lives next door to us and was outside barking away at the time, and Jacob, well, he's afraid of the wind. So, yeah, we didn't stay outside too long since all three of them wanted to come inside. But I did convince them to stay outside long enough to get a couple of pictures:
This is what Levi did while the three of them played outside/inside.

Perefct mix

Since Brad and I have a lot of the same features, people are never quite sure who our kids look like. I think both of our kids are a great mix of the two of us. With that being said, Jacob is a perfect mix of mine and Brad's likes too. He loves to dance, just like me. But he has Brad's taste in music. As Jacob and Brad were coming home from the Y the other day, Weezer was on the radio with their song Beverly Hills. When they got to the garage and Brad turned the car off, Jacob said, "Turn music back on!" When they got inside, we found Beverly Hills on the computer and let Jacob dance. Also, when I went Visiting Teaching the other day, with Jacob, as soon as we got in the car and he heard the radio, he requested Beverly Hills. I may need to download this song so he can hear it...otherwise we'll do a lot of scanning on the radio for this song on our drives! Turn your head to the side and enjoy our little mix master :)

One Month

It's a few days after the fact, but on the 7th, Levi was officially one month old! I can't believe how quickly this month has flown by. Levi has been such a good baby. He eats pretty well, sleeps pretty well, and is generally happy. Sure, he cries now and then and I've had projectile spit up and stuff from the other end as well coming at me over the last month, but overall, it's been great.

Levi then

On Friday, I took Levi in for his one month check up. Everything is looking great and Levi now weighs 9 pounds! That's almost 1 1/2 pounds since his two week weight check. At 9 pounds, he's in the 25-30th percentile for weight. He measured 22 inches long, which put him in the 75th percentile for height. It's weird to think that we actually have a baby who is above average in one of those categories. For weight, anyway, Jacob was rarely even on the chart...in the opposite direction.
Levi now

We've sure enjoyed this first month and are glad Levi joined our family!

Results

So, thanks to everyone who played my little game. I think you will all agree now that both my boys look quite a bit alike. There are a few differences though: Levi has a more red complexion than Jacob. Levi has more of a little ball on the tip of his nose than Jacob does. Levi's chin is a little more square than Jacob's is. Levi also has darker hair than Jacob, although they are both blonds. These differences may have been hard to see in the pictures I posted. Also, the picture of Jacob looks a lot like the picture of Levi that I have on my sidebar.

So, now that you've read all of that...Levi was in the picture on the left and Jacob was in the picture on the right.

Good job to the 7 of you who chose correctly!!! The name drawn out of my hat (really it was a bowl, but who cares?) was...KARIANN!! So, Kariann, look for something in your mailbox or possibly front steps within the next week. I haven't picked out what I'm sending yet, but it should be fun to receive anyway.

Good job guys. Maybe I'll do this again sometime. Sorry for those of you who chose correctly, but didn't win. Maybe next time :)

Who's who?

Lots of people ask me who I think Levi looks like and if I think he looks like Jacob. Sometimes I think they look quite a bit alike, but sometimes I think Levi definitely looks different than Jacob. So...here's a quiz for you. It's not a long quiz, but can you tell which baby is which? Good luck!

If you answer correctly by 3:30 pm tomorrow (5/8/09), your name will go into a hat and the person whose name I draw will receive something fun in the mail. Good luck!!

Trip

Last week, Levi and I took a trip to Utah. My cousin Desaray was getting married, so we headed out of town to see the happy occasion. Levi did great on the flights, hardly crying at all. Jacob stayed home and had a boys weekend with Brad.

We had a small bridal shower for Desaray the night before she got married. It was fun. Some of the guests stayed and played Rock Band, but Levi and I headed home to my Aunt's house to get some rest (haha, yeah right!).
While in Utah, it was kind of like a mini reunion for me. I was able to see my Uncle Robert and his family, my cousin Blake and his wife (whom I had not met before), my Grandparents, and all of Desaray's sisters. It was lots of fun to hang out with them. I even got a picture of Levi with his Great-Grandpa Salmon!
Unfortunately, it was kind of cold the day Desaray got married, so I didn't get any pictures at the temple. Actually, I didn't do so well at taking pictures at all while I was out visiting. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to remember what everything looked like. Corey seems like a great guy and I'm excited that he's part of our family now and I look forward to getting to know him better. Good luck and Congrats guys!

Funny story about the trip though: Apparently over the weekend there was a hockey camp in SLC so there were lots of teenage boys on my flight. And lucky me, I was seated right next to one. So, Levi of course gets hungry during this 3 hour flight and I had to feed him. Yeah, I was slightly embarrassed...I had a cover and everything, but it was a little weird having to nurse Levi while sitting next to a 15 year old boy. Ah...such is the life, right?!

And just for fun, here are the boys today! I can't believe that Levi is already 4 weeks old (he'll be one month tomorrow so stay tuned for check-up results, we go Friday). Aren't they cute?
