Easter

We decided a few years ago to do Easter baskets on Saturday morning so that we could concentrate on the resurrection of our Savior on Easter Sunday. So, that's what we did this year. We decided to get the kids an extension set for the train set that Levi got for his birthday. They both really enjoyed it and this way they got a lot less candy in their baskets. We knew they'd get plenty from the egg hunts we had planned this year at the grandparents' houses.

Setting up the track Saturday morning.

First we went to the Jones' house and had a breakfast there. These are Brad's grandparents. They are in their 80s and have been married for over 50 years!
Carson showing his loot.
All of the Jones grand kids...it's not so easy to get 14 kids all looking at one camera at the same time!
Lydia sharing candy with her daddy, Uncle Joey.
Jacob checking out the loot he got from the egg hunt at Grandma and Grandpa Jones'.
Levi got some magnets in his basket. They fit all the way around his wrist kind of like a bracelet. Too bad we lost some of them already because it was kind of neat!

After the egg hunt at the Jones', we went home and took naps and then headed out to my parents' for an egg hunt with all of the Smith kids!
Levi hunting eggs in the rocks.
All the eggs in Jacob's basket!

We did two separate egg hunts: one for the big kids and one for the little kids. We waited a little too long for the big kids to start their hunt and they ended up getting rained on. Bella running out of the rain.
Spencer, Trista, and Zoey counting Spencer's eggs
Bella wasn't too thrilled with getting wet. I love her pursed lips!
The boys, on the other hand, loved getting wet!
My mom!
All of the Smith grand kids. Most of them are looking at the camera and smiling...pretty good for 13 grand kids!

I am so thankful to live near so much family. I am also very grateful for a wonderful holiday to remember the resurrection of my Savior and the knowledge that He lives and because He lives, I will one day live again too.

I hope you all had a fun Easter!

Looks like the boys really had fun with the easter egg hunts. It's funny the how different the reaction of the older kids to getting rained on.

Looks like it was a good weekend! I love your idea of doing the easter baskets on Saturday too!
